Fairfax, VA 22030-4444
From 1985 to 1993 I participated in research and development projects at George Mason University (GMU) in Fairfax, VA. My doctoral dissertation entitled "A Hypermedia Workstation for Requirements Engineering" was one of the first research projects illustrating how hypermedia technologies could be applied to the software requirements and development process. After graduation I was offered the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Information Systems & Systems Engineering in the Department of Information Systems and Software Engineering. I was also appointed Director of the GMU Hypermedia Technologies Laboratory, where I led a team of doctoral students researching the application of hypermedia-based tools and techniques to the process of software requirements engineering, and developed hypermedia-based applications supporting group support systems for decision making and consensus building. Grant funding and support came from a number of organizations including the Federal Highways Administration, the Department of Defense, IBM, TRW Federal Systems Division, and the Edison Technology Center at Cuyahoga Community College.
I still do fundraising for GMU and one of my proudest accomplishments was to be a part of the team that implemented the Jim Palmer Scholarship fund - our celebratory dinner photo is below.
